Music I’m Listening To (The National, The Young Friends, Dusty Brown)

I’ve really gotten into surf-rock lately, and The Young Friends are a prime example of the genre. They’re a bunch of teens from Arizona and their songs are pretty catchy. You can listen to their whole album, Hella, at SoundCloud.

Dusty Brown released his latest album for free online over at ISO50, and I very much like it. How’s That is my favorite track that I’ve heard for a long time. It sounds best loud.

I love The National’s latest album, High Violet. Their lead singer Matt Berninger has a great voice and one of my personal heroes, Sufjan Stevens, contributed to the album with vocals for the track Afraid of Everyone.

Joe Worricker is a Londoner who sings like Louis Armstrong, and you can’t really believe that that voice is coming from him, but it is, and he how he can sing.

I’ve pretty much decided that this summer I’m going to listen to all the Balearic House that I can get my hands on, and at the top of that genre for me is Delorean. I can’t seem to get their music out of my head.

Onra is a Vietnamese-French hip-hop producer who makes beats right out of the late J-Dilla’s book. I love this track, it sounds so good played loud with the windows down.

For some reason most great music is coming out of Sweden lately, and The Radio Dept’s latest album Clinging to a Scheme is a great example of the Swedish pop sound.
